ABOUT PC ENERGY MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS
Building PC Energy

PC Energy is a "PC" based energy management system for hotels, motels, schools, churches and commercial buildings. The system consists of an IBM compatible computer, PC Energy software, and Functional Devices, Inc. Power Line Carrier (PLC) hardware. Functional Devices, Inc. PLC components virtually eliminate the need for "hard wiring". Because the installation of the PLC devices does not involve the running of wires from the controller to the loads, the installation cost of the system does not depend on the length of wire runs, the restrictions of concrete walls and floors or the hazards of asbestos removal.
Zach
PC Energy's primary function, when used in hotels, is to perform occupied/unoccupied control over the guest rooms, heater/air conditioners, and heat pumps. In the design process the primary concern was that PC Energy would be inexpensive to install, easy to set up, exceptionally easy to use and invisible to the front desk personnel. These objectives were fulfilled by a technically advanced method of installation, self-directing setup procedures, an unusually simple choice of control logic and the ability to interface to most Property Management Systems.

Simple is better and that is what PC Energy is all about. The front desk personnel experience no added responsibility. The person responsible for scheduling rooms or special events does not need to know anything about computers. The setup procedure is straightforward and simple. The installer or user does not have to perform complicated programming. Algorithms, military time and other complicated procedures are noticeably absent from PC Energy. The user's manual is rarely needed since there are help messages that can be called up while the system is running.
